Métis Nation Saskatchewan approached David T Fortin Architect in 2021 with plans to open a flagship office for a new Family and Social Services program in Saskatchewan. The office was designed to incorporate many Métis design elements in a contemporary way, including references to the Red River frame and dovetail construction used in Métis folk homes, as well as Métis beadwork and other visual references throughout. George Fayant, Métis Red River Cart builder, was commissioned to build a cart wheel which was then custom designed by DTFA into a light above the feature stair. The facility opened in October of 2023.
